Prof. Mathew Tsamenyi

President & CEO
Professor Mathew Tsamenyi is the President and CEO of Nova Business School Africa.

He previously served as Professor of Management Practice in Accounting at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) for over 14 years and was Executive Director of CEIBS Africa from 2015 to 2025. His academic career also includes roles as Professor of Accounting at the University of Birmingham’s  Business School, with earlier teaching positions at the University of Sheffield (UK) and City University of Hong Kong. Mathew is currently the President of the Institute of Sustainability Professionals Ghana (ISPG). He was the founding President of the African Accounting and Finance Association (2011–2015) and the founding Chair of the British Accounting and Finance Association’s Special Interest Group on Emerging Economies (2012–2014). He co-founded and served as editor of the Journal of Accounting in Emerging Economies, and currently acts as a Consulting Editor for the journal.

 

He is co-author of the Handbook of Accounting and Development (Edward Elgar Publishing, UK) and co-editor of Managing Agricultural Enterprises and Developing Agricultural Value Chains (Springer). With deep expertise in corporate governance, financial analysis, and performance management, Professor Tsamenyi has led research and consultancy engagements across diverse regions including Ghana, Rwanda, Nigeria, Indonesia, Brazil, Mauritius, the UK, and the Solomon Islands. His clients have included the African Development Bank, Ashanti Goldfields Corporation, UNCTAD, the Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education (Nuffic), and the Central Bank of Rwanda.

 

He has delivered executive and academic courses globally—in the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, UAE, Malaysia, and Ghana—and holds visiting academic appointments at institutions such as the Federal University of Pernambuco (Brazil), Uganda Management Institute, Makerere
University Business School, University of Addis Ababa, and the University of Ghana.

Professor Tsamenyi currently serves on the board of Parkstone Capital, a fund management company based in Ghana.
